TikTok Banned in the UK Parliament and Government

UK parliament has made the decision to ban the use of Chinese-owned video-sharing app TikTok from “all parliamentary devices and the wider parliamentary network” for cybersecurity reasons and following a wave of similar bans around the world, The Guardian reported. A similar decision was made by the UK and Scottish governments. That means that the app will not be possible to be accessed on any device over the parliamentary wifi. A few MPs protested the ban considering it a form of censorship.

The decisions were made in the context of the TikTok’s chief executive, Shou Zi Chew, giving evidence to a committee of the US House of Representatives in America.
