About MediaPowerMonitor

Behind Every Narrative, There’s Power. We Follow It.

Founded in 2015 by media scholar and journalist Marius Dragomir, MediaPowerMonitor began as a platform to explore the complex relationships between media, power, and public narratives. Over the years, we have collaborated with hundreds of journalists, researchers, and local experts across the globe, all of whom understand who truly shapes media narratives and who guides editorial decisions.

Since 2023, the platform has undergone a complete transformation. While we continue to publish a small number of carefully researched stories on major issues, our primary focus is now on tracking and analyzing the sources of information. We map ownership structures, funding flows, and patterns of narrative influence, creating an in-depth structured view of who shapes public opinion.

We call this approach a Narrative Intelligence Repository (NIR) — a curated database where all content is catalogued, tagged, and verified by our team. The NIR allows researchers, journalists, and the public to explore the origins of stories, the people and institutions behind them, and the ways narratives spread, offering clarity and transparency in a complex media landscape.

Our editorial content is produced in-house by a team of experts, with contributions from local journalists and researchers. We focus on analysis of primary sources and direct observation, rather than algorithmic or automated content, ensuring authenticity and human insight.

The platform is financed through the Media and Journalism Research Center (MJRC)’s research fund and a new subscription model that allows clients to commission bespoke tracking projects. These commissioned projects — such as verifying the authenticity of a narrative or monitoring the influence of a particular actor — are carried out independently and do not influence the public repository or editorial content.

MediaPowerMonitor remains fully independent and transparent. All data in the NIR is verified according to MJRC’s research standards, and we maintain full editorial control over the stories we publish.
