State of transparency
4,348 organisations in 103 countries are on record. 54% of them show who owns or leads them. Figures as of 4 November 2026; they update every day.
How open organisations are
Each passport checks the disclosures that matter for its kind of organisation. Select a level to see the organisations in it.

By country
Is your organisation here?
Every passport starts from public records. The organisation can claim it for free, confirm its details and fill in what is missing; anyone can send a correction or point us to a source. Every change is dated in the passport’s public history.
Look up a Source Passport
Who is behind a media outlet, a party, a platform or an agency: owners, money, channels. Paste a website address or type a name.
- Find a passport: search by name, website or number.
- Claim your passport: if it is your organisation.
- Report an error: on any passport; a researcher reviews the evidence and the correction is dated.
- Request the full record: for journalism, research or public duties.
- Report a fake badge: a genuine badge links to a passport on this site.
- Commission an analysis: when a passport is not enough.
Or write to provenance@mpmonitor.org.
How to read these figures
- Open: Every key disclosure for this kind of organisation is on record.
- Partial: At least half of the key disclosures are on record.
- Limited: Only some key disclosures are on record.
- Not yet disclosed: None of the key disclosures is on record yet: nothing published by the organisation, nothing found in public sources so far.
A fact counts as on record whether it is verified, stated by the organisation or still pending a check; each passport shows which. Records of organisations that have closed or merged are left out. The full register is available as open data.
